"Feel more, Hurt Less"
T4THNK
Contemporary · echoes Buddhist & Stoic thought and emotion-focused psychology
A paradox worth wearing. We often assume the way to hurt less is to feel less - to armour up, numb out, stay busy. This line suggests the reverse. Emotions that are avoided tend to linger and leak; emotions that are fully felt tend to move through and pass. The idea echoes the Buddhist distinction between pain and the extra suffering we add by resisting it, and modern psychology’s findings on emotional acceptance. Feeling more means paying honest attention: naming what is present without being ruled by it. The open heart turns out to be more resilient than the defended one.
Armour is heavy. Put some down.
